Ines, you are quite right I believe. The thing though I am starting to see as a pattern is that the more people, like whom this is about, ridicule someone, the more intelligent the opinion the person in question is posing, generally, is. These two seem to go hand in hand. So, in a way one could see the ridiculing by these people as a compliment :-)

Exactly, Scott! So may be some contributors should use valid arguments in lieu of mockery and ridicule. The latter is much easier, I agree, but a forum is not supposed to be a place for putting down ideas, spirituality or belief, even IF you find it erroneous. BTW no one was implying that criticism equals personal attacks. I personally opposed the appeal for blatant ridicule of the subject and the people who may believe in God,.. Atlantis or UFO..
I do not agree that calling for ridicule makes a discussion interesting or any spicier". On the contrary, it often brings into a discussion an element of a common squabble. As I have mentioned in my comment I do not find constant referencing to various links particularly interesting. The discussion may have been less "banal" and more "rigorous" had John given more of his own thoughts and ideas on the matter or shared his personal experience, rather than constantly quoting various links, some of which I find questionable.
Why do you think that an arrogant statements, smth like "they clearly haven't the slightest idea what they are talking about" is the true and exciting way to disagree? How does Simon know? Isn't Simon's claim a bit presumptuous? Why do you and Simon dismiss the very concept of "energy", "crystal vibrations"..etc.. I, for one, do not "come from an arts background" but from a very rough and tough oil & gas industry, very down to earth, I must add :), nonetheless, I have personally witnessed "energy" presence and "vibrations" (not "crystal" per se ). I have even done a number of experiments on my own. I had always been extremely skeptical of any types of "manifestations" and was sure that what I saw and experienced had been somehow staged.. Then I tried it myself because I did not think that I would attempt to trick myself :-) Anyway, my belief in Superior Energy does not prevent me from, just like you, having doubts about the existence of Atlantis, UFOs and anthropomorphous Angels.
What is so "interesting" about mockery or ridicule? I would be much more interested in a possible argument based on fact or ideas and not just a vulgar: you don't know this.. you don't know that.. If YOU know" just tell us, don"t go on and on about what we do NOT know.. Is it really important what the name of that magazine was from which John has gotten his info absolutely irrelevant to the subject. Was the info valid? If you think it wasn't Please tell us WHY.. There are a lot of things we collectively do know :) Try to concentrate on that and maybe, just maybe, you will be able to appreciate the difference of opinion which unites and not separates.

Thanks for this JJP, I studied some of Jung's work when I was younger, so nice to be reminded of it. :-)
Actually I'm amazed at the amount of Gnostic films that Hollywood release, especially within the children's genre. 'Tron Legacy' was literally a blow by blow instruction on Gnosticism... almost without fault in it's depiction, complete with Aeons, Pleroma, the Demi-urge, Archons... the Sophia and of course the Christ figure. Incredible! And I suspect that TRON is a direct reference to METATRON.
I'm absolutely staggered at the ancient religious depictions within Hollywood films which it seems the large majority of the public are completely unaware of. The films are multi-layered.

I copied this article from the New Scientist. This theory has been around for awhile... but is gathering momentum in being proven!

TAKE a look around you. The walls, the chair you're sitting in, your own body - they all seem real and solid. Yet there is a possibility that everything we see in the universe - including you and me - may be nothing more than a hologram.
It sounds preposterous, yet there is already some evidence that it may be true, and we could know for sure
within a couple of years. If it does turn out to be the case, it would turn our common-sense conception of reality inside out.
The idea has a long history, stemming from an apparent paradox posed by Stephen Hawking's work in the 1970s. He discovered that black holes slowly radiate their mass away. This Hawking radiation appears to carry no information, however, raising the question of what happens to the information that described the original star once the black hole evaporates. It is a cornerstone of physics that information cannot be destroyed.
In 1972 Jacob Bekenstein at the HebrewUniversity of Jerusalem, Israel, showed that the information content of a black hole is proportional to the two-dimensional surface area of its event horizon - the point-of-no-return for in-falling light or matter. Later, string theorists managed to show how the original star's information could be encoded in tiny lumps and bumps on the event horizon, which would then imprint it on the Hawking radiation departing the black hole.
This solved the paradox, but theoretical physicists Leonard Susskind and Gerard 't Hooft decided to
take the idea a step further: if a three-dimensional star could be encoded on a black hole's 2D event horizon, maybe the same could be true of the whole universe. The universe does, after all, have a horizon 42 billion light years away, beyond which point light would not have had time to reach us since the big bang. Susskind and 't Hooft suggested that this 2D "surface" may encode the entire 3D universe that we experience - much like the 3D hologram that is projected from your credit card.
It sounds crazy, but we have already seen a sign that it may be true. Theoretical physicists have long
suspected that space-time is pixelated, or grainy. Since a 2D surface cannot store sufficient information to render a 3D object perfectly, these pixels would be bigger in a hologram. "Being in the [holographic] universe is like being in a 3D movie," says Craig Hogan of Fermilab in Batavia, Illinois. "On a large scale, it looks smooth and three-dimensional, but if you get close to the screen, you can tell that it is flat and pixelated."
Quantum fluctuation
Hogan recently looked at readings from an exquisitely sensitive motion-detector in Hanover, Germany, which was built to detect gravitational waves - ripples in the fabric of space-time. The GEO600 experiment has yet to find one, but in 2008 an unexpected jitter left the team scratching their heads, until Hogan suggested that it might arise from "quantum fluctuations" due to the graininess of space-time. By rights, these should be far too small to detect, so the fact that they are big enough to show up on GEO600's readings is tentative supporting evidence that the universe really is a hologram, he says.
Bekenstein is cautious: "The holographic idea is only a hypothesis, supported by some special cases."
Better evidence may come from a dedicated instrument being built at Fermilab, which Hogan expects to be up and running within a couple of years.
A positive result would challenge every assumption we have about the world we live in. It would show that
everything is a projection of something occurring on a flat surface billions of light years away from where we perceive ourselves to be. As yet we have no idea what that "something" might be, or how it could
manifest itself as a world in which we can do the school run or catch a movie at the cinema. Maybe it would make no difference to the way we live our lives, but somehow I doubt it. (Marcus Chown)"

Unfortunately don't have time now to bring all the links, but aside from James Cameron, who would never venture to search for Atlantis for political reasons, there are hundreds and hundreds of archeological and historical proofs of existence of Atlantis. Researches gone and seen and explored and radio scanned the ruins of Atlantis.
Unfortunately, aside from conspiracy or not, those scientific reports are not widely promoted and distributed by the media to "avoid upsetting the public".
When you start your research into it for real you find mind boggling scientific discoveries.
John Jan, keep up the search. Atlantis definitely existed and the effects of that culture we have today in ways that you don't even suspect.

What's increasingly common on this forum is that more and more contributors equate criticism of or commentary about ideas or sources as being the same about the author. Critical comments about an idea or source (a common thing in real-world discussions) are considered here as personal attacks or criticisms about the person. This diminishes the value of "discussion".
One can criticise an idea without doing the same regarding the author. But over the past couple of years, opposing views on ideas or sources is often immediately redefined as ad hominem.
The increasing inability on ASW to distinguish between the two has made discussions here rather banal and less interesting, and certainly less rigorous. The threads become soapboxes where differing opinions are dismissed as personal attacks or out of place.
Well Scott...... don't take it too personal I would advise

Yes Jim Mars is great, I have read all his books. I think he is the best author on those subjects, unless you dig in to Zacharia Sitchin books.
But "Rule By Secrecy" is must read for anyone who ever contemplated on those subjects.
My friends who read this thread, get this book, read it and then come back to discuss.

No shred of evidence of atlantis? The misinformed should research the fact of pyramids (underwater) off the bimini islands or the ones off yonaguni( again underwater) off japan. I did see History channel documentaries about "Ancient aliens", but entertaining as they are, they don´t provide a shred of evidente about aliens visitin our ancestors. There are enough evidences to make us dream about it, but none to prove it. You might as well say our ancestors were visited by future humans with superior technology...
What I don´t know is whay they made so many when al the information could have been summarized in one or two documentaries. Running out of ideas Mr. History Channel Director?

I am going to start by telling you about a controversial book that was written in 1973 called the "secret life of plants", by Peter Tompkins and Christopher Bird. This one book, a U.S. bestseller, was the cause of the cessation of major research into plant behaviour for more than 40 years. Only recently can scientists finally stick their head above the parapet and attempt to investigate the behaviour of plants without being open to peer group ridicule.
Why did that book cause such a major problem? The most significant idea was that plants can react to human emotions. It was alleged that plants were able to react to events even before they happened. For instance, if you were walking over to a plant to prune it, the plant would be aware of this before you had actually started to make any physical cuts to the plant itself. It was as if the plant could read your thoughts. This of course, reeked of extra sensory perception, which no doubt scientists in all walks of life dismissed as sci-fi nonsense. How could it be possible that plants, with no central nervous system could recognise emotions in a human?

THE SECRET LIFE OF PLANTS by Peter Tompkins and Christopher Bird is a wonderful book of wisdom about the plant world and life in general. Like many people my age, I cut my teeth on Disney's "Living Desert" back in the 1950s. That film killed the notion for me that nothing lives in Death Valley and if Death Valley can be alive what else is possible?
SECRET LIFE is like the old Disney films because the book describes science that challenges stereotypical mainstream thinking. Anyone who believes plants are sentient beings will love this book. If you've done much reading on this subject you've probably seen Tompkins and Bird quoted elsewhere.
In the first part of their book, the authors explore the attributes of plants and pretty much conclude they have everything in common with animals-except plants probably came first on the evolutionary ladder and prepared the way for animals. In fact, if earth was invaded by alien species, the authors suggest the aliens were probably plants. But, you say, plants have roots and stay put (for the most part) and plants produce chlorophyll. Shell fish (oysters, mussels) and sea anemones can be rooted to one spot and small protozoa-like creatures produce chlorophyll.
Probably the thing I like the best about this book is that finally, someone links the Chakras to real body parts-the seven endocrine centers--and explains the reasons why these "hot spots" are so important. Also, Tompkins and Bird explain the scientific reasoning behind Bach flower remedies and many other "new age" products you can find at Fresh Fields and other holistic stores.
Skeptics will always have doubts, but after 30 years of organic gardening and non-academic exposure to plants, I know Tompkins and Bird are onto something. So do many modern scientists who have discovered belatedly that much of what the authors described 30 years ago may be true afterall.
Cutting edge scientists are frequently ignored. Once upon a time some people thought George Washington Carver was a fruitcake because he thought plants had feelings (they do). Carver discovered many unusual things as did a number of other later Nobel winners, although sometimes folks like Gregor Mendel were not recognized until it was too late.
If you want to be a better person, a wiser consumer, a great gardener, and healthier, you owe it to yourself to read THE SECRET LIFE OF PLANTS. It isn't all about them.

These subjects are very difficult for the rational mind to understand, they have to be experiential, otherwise you can discuss them forever and not be convinced. like the example of insisting that the world is flat and we might walk to the edge and fall off, and now we no longer believe that. Or that we could fly in big machines across the world, or speak on the phone with anyone, anywhere, our ancestors would have cringed or laughed their heads off at such suggestions. And so it is with subjects considered to be of the paranormal, which sensitives, clairvoyants and psychics do have access to, and so much of which has been documented, researched and shared. i dont have experience of Thoth, though i do have a friend who wrote an amazing book on her experiences with him, but i do believe in Atlantis, and the gifts they had at that time, especially their knowledge of crystals and healing, which has been passed down. The Four Kumaras (Sanskrit for "child") or Catursana in the Hindu tradition, are mentioned in many Puranas. They are the four sons of Brahma Sanaka (founder of Kumara sampradaya), Sanatana, Sanat-kumara and Sanandana.
In the Bhagavata Purana is narrated that they wer born from the mind of Brahma, the four Kumaras are described as great sages, who chose a life dedicated to the study and chastity (brahmacarya).

Depends on the circles you move in. There are some good academics and others writing on these subjects and being recognized like Gregg Braden and Deepak Chopra, but I agree the mainstream are not yet there. I tend to forget that, as I seem to attract those to me who are interested, thankfully. And here in the middle of all this chaos in Cyprus,, I have been holding meditation groups every night, maintaining the harmony of the Unified Field, assisted by Kumat Sumara.

Maggie, completely agree with you but people cannot understand it's all a matter of energy, features that civilizations now have lost but that our ancestors in the beginning had and that some animals mantein (cats are the best for this, this is why they were deified by ancient cultures....they represent the eyes on our planet !!!)
We would need days to explain all these things but people should start to exit from their small world and begin to consider that the physical world is short and limited.......for those sceptics just need to learn astral travels and they will change idea immediately !!
Another interesting matter is all the knowledge we have nowadays; fortunately always more scientists are becoming reconsider many sciences and hystorical events of the far past, this will led to a bigger world awareness and maybe our descendants will study the earth creation on book completely re written (but reporting the real true!!!)
NASA has special sections studying the human energy healing potential and they used in the past, the real knowledge is not owned by the population but few people that mantein exchanges with non physical dimensions...........there is also a special section of the freemasonry but cannot tell more.
Regarding the technologies I have written before unfortunately the world cannot use them as too advanced for our mind and behaviour, if humans would change mind all the world could benefit forever as used in the far past...
The big problem of the people is that they think only the physical world exist and that human race is the most intelligent and evolute of the earth (ops sorry....of the universe!!!)

Yes Tibet, maybe you don't know that if the world is still existing is thanks to the monks there; they have always worked for the global health and they are still doing this.
They are the only in this world that are keeping very old secrets, some of them that we cannot ever imagine, the way to use the energy as ancient populations were usual to practice and yes, even very advanced technologies that are far from the comprehension of the most advanced country........but most important is their soul....
There are some tecniques that every human could be able to do but now we have lost the use and the potential of the energy due to the modern lazy lifestyle; if you practice for long time with the right people you will be able to do many things now impossible; but if we are talking about Tibet is something that comes from ancient times and that need maybe a life to understand (like to pass through a wall or the teleportation)..............now also the science is getting confident that is possible like many other issues (because it's a matter of energy) but they arrived to this conclusions only now while those people are doing this from thousands or years !!!!..................this is one of the examples also to say that history books must be revisited from the beginning and science books as we know now must be modified in several things.....again, we are too primitive and our knowledge and technology is basic comparing to what we could have.......
Do you believe me if I tell you that we could live without phones? Yes, but only if you know how to comunicate with another people far thousands of kilometers......my friend, there are populations in few third world countries of this world that are doing this every day from centuries.
Do you believe me if I tell you that a group of people in meditation could change some events? It's possible and its happening from long time.
To talk about this is not good to read few books and then reporting the mistery of some contents or to have seen a Spielberg space movie but must live a different life, practice some tecniques and live a unique lifestyle with some special people (it needs lot of years or a life or to be born in special conditions); for the rest is only a waste of time and only words.....
What I'm talking about is not the latest news of the last science development but is well known from many people in the world,even scientists, just start informing what third reich was usual to do before and during the second world war......it's all a matter of energy and how you are able to use it, human is made by atoms and molecules as everything in the universe...NOTHING SPECIAL !!!

Yes, the Pineal Gland (the so called Third eye) that opens you to various capacities and that nazi soldiers were usual to practice often (they were all forced by the Third Reich to activate it).....third eye is activated still now from various populations in the world and everybody can do it.

I couldn't recall the name of a book I once read that proposed how these tribes managed to identify the concept of DNA and used the symbol of the two serpents to identify it (much like the double helix). Although I might be remembering it all wrong right now.

Well, there is some evidence that the "flood myths" common to most human civilisations did have some grounding in actual facts. I watched a documentary a couple of years ago about this huge sunken city - complex off the coast of India, and apparently there are many such sites around the world.
Does it mean Atlantis was real? Not as such, I don't believe so - if by that we mean an high-tech society and thus "cross-breed" the flood myths with the "golden age ones", and then pass progressively farther and farther into cuckoo-land with alien pharaos, hill carving as starship navigation devices (you'd think they'd have GPS!) and so forth.
But the possibility of a fairly-advance late iron age (a tech-level like classical Rome, say) civilisation during the last Ice Age? Well, why not? Realistically, at that time, most of the fertile areas would have been where now the oceans lie, and humanity would not have achieved yet the level of mass-production that would imply finding -some- remaining artifacts even after the chaos ensuing from the receding of the glaciers and the rising of the seas.

I've heard the same thing from the teachings in Falun Gong (which I've mentioned I practice). FG is a cultivation teaching by Master Li Hongzhi from China but, he briefly mentions something similar about the Pyramid of Giza, and Mayans. In short, the Mayans of today who are mixed Mexican-Indians are not the real Mayans that actually descended from a pre-civilization.. and human kind is much much older than the 100,000 years based on Darwin's theory.

The modern human is thought to be only 100,000 years old by some scientists and before that, people were basically just apes. We went from apes who ran around unclothed and ate raw meet to sophisticated beings who built tools, temples,furnature, ornate drinking vessels over a span of a few thousand years? If you visit enough museums holding ancient relics, Darwin's theory starts to melt.
Similarity does not equate to evolution, by the way. Geneticists are beginning to recognize that as well.

An Attack of the Third Kind
Let us return to the still unexplained reasons for the termination of Admiral Byrd’s Operation Highjump. After his fleet precipitously left the Antarctic at the beginning of March 1947, Richard Byrd conducted his only interview with Lee Van Atta, the El Mercurio newspaper correspondent from Santiago, Chile, who was allowed to accompany the expedition as a journalist. Van Atta wrote: “… Admiral Byrd declared today that it was imperative for the United States to initiate immediate defense measures against hostile airplanes originating from Polar Regions.” He also emphasized, “it is important to remain in alarm status and be vigilant along the entire ice belt, which is the last bulwark against an invasion.”
According to the Russian military man Wasiljew, upon returning to Washington, Byrd supposedly spoke of an assault on the expedition – an assault by flying saucers that surfaced out of the water at high speeds and caused drastic losses to the naval unit!
Experienced fighter pilot John Sayerson, witness and crew member of the expedition supposedly described the dramatic battle of, February 26, 1947 with the following words: “The things popped out of the water like they were being chased by the devil and flew at such high speeds between the masts that the antennae between the wind eddy ripped. Some airplanes that were able to get into the air off the Casablanca were hit moments later by unfamiliar blasts that came from the flying saucers and crashed next to the ships. I was on deck the Casablanca at the time and was totally taken aback. These things did not make a single sound as they flew between our ships and spit deadly fire. Suddenly, the torpedo boat destroyer Maddock, which was about 10 cable lengths (less than 2 miles) away from us, went up in flames and began to sink. Rescue boats from other ships were sent despite the danger. The nightmare lasted about 20 minutes. When the flying saucers dove again under the water we began to count our losses. They were appalling.”
Assuming John Sayerson exists and he is telling the truth – whom did these flying saucers belong to? Perhaps the Third Reich as some sources persistently claim to this very day? Let us suppose that the American intelligence services actually had at their disposal information that proved the relocation of important technology and scientists to Antarctica – then it would be self-evident why the polar area attracted its interest. In all likelihood, this information was actually so disconcerting that the Americans provided the polar explorer Richard Byrd with all-out military resources for the annihilation of the suspected Nazi base in Antarctica, an unsuccessful plan.

Scott, I agree that YouTube is filled with the imaginations of aspiring filmmakers. Anyhow it is my opinion that there is blend of fabricated DISINFORMATION, bizarre ideas and real Information. It is my opinion: there are some precious jewels which scatter among the rubbish.
The bizarre theory that our planet is hollow at its center dates back to the famous seventeenth-century English astronomer Edmund Halley, who claimed that there are several centers of gravity within the globe. Halley believed that the Earth was comprised of four concentric spheres; he further suggested that the center was populated with life forms.

I don't know what to think. I know that dinosaurs lived a few million years before Mount Everest (Chomolungma) was formed, but I'm sure that I saw a documentary with Raquel Welch in it, dated a few years before JC, and there were dinosaurs around then. baffling; who to believe, eh?

Scott, you can repeat what some scientists working from the premise of evolution have put together so far until we are all blue in the face but the fact remains that they just do not really know about the origin of human kind.

Yes,the theory of dwarfing exists (that they just shrank) but apparently, scientists are beginning to think they are a different species all together. Personally, my feeling is that the theory of evolution is just not as solid as people resolved to believe in it want to think it is. Also, many scientists will admit that there are plenty of holes.

Amer, Falun Gong isn't a cult and was advocated by the Chinese government as a beneficial practice for years until the number of practitioners grew far too large (estimated 100 million) and enthusiastic (more than for the communist party). Then the Chinese Communist government decided to call it a cult and start a state run persecution that included illegal organ harvesting. Actually "cult studies" were done on FG by some scholars and they concluded it didn't have the characteristics of a cult so not sure what else to add here :-)
There are Buddhist and Hindu creationsists too...
Personally, I stopped believing people evolved from monkeys after I realized that animals do not have the spiritual potential as humans. Also, the complexity of ancient relics dispersed all over the world makes me think people are far older than 100,000 some odd years.

But to add, I do think primates are sentient and intelligent and deserve respect (as all animals) and should not be abused in animal testing. As an adult able to see past grade school education where Darwinism is first introduced, I just dont buy Darwin's theory of evolution any more :-)

All very interesting.
I went through some of the links. I don't know much about FG, but for years there were repeated accusations about it's being a cult. I supposed there was something political about the accusations, but was not sure of the Chinese government's motives.
As for evolution/vs. other theories, we must agree to disagree.

@Amer, I think that is totally fine. And do not like the vague "god created man end of story" idea and wish people could be open minded enough to take other possibilities more seriously. We know every little about anything outside what our technology can measure because most people ignore other phenomena. About where humans come from, I personally like that some schools are teaching Darwanism as just one of the theories.

i personally dont believe in Darwin's theory....many things we just can not explain yet... but dont forget that twenty years ago we didnt have computers..now we have... and btw there is a theory that a computer chip isnt a human know-how....not from our species anyway

That does not mean one should not pursue science, but one should also be aware that a "theory" is just that: an attempt at explaining some aspect of the world. Man should always keep an open mind, lest he discards possible better explanation, and thus understanding. Darwin's is the best theory on human development so far, but it sure has some weak points. No one has come up with an organic, credible alternative though, to my best knowledge.
That's why for instance I find incredibly retarded the US debate about darwinism/creationism, as one one side you have religious fanatics who choose to ignore scientifical facts, on the other equally fanatical "science cultists" who have no idea what science is all about and have turned it in a para-religion itself.
The first should try and understand that it is surely in the power of the Almighty to not speak literally, if He so wants, have a stiff drink and relax. The others should read Popper, have a stiff drink and relax.

Kim - most electronic engineers I know freely admit that there is almost always a point where they just go "and then it works by magic", when trying to explain how microprocessors work... :-)
John - I've always been intrigued by that machine. Any personal guess about what it might be, by the way?
There are numerous hints that classical technology was of a much higher level than generally thought, and this is one of the most convincing - almost spooky in that respect

1000 years from now, after the nuclear war which destroyed everything 500 years from now, one eccentric archeologist digging up the ice up north, finds an immense vault containing seeds of just about all plants known to mankind back then (nowadays).
conclusion:

John, I don't know Mc Kinnon, and I don't have time to look thoroughly at both videos now, but the things that first video says... what they show is that the author has no knowledge of physics, not even approximate: Newton is unknown to him, as are the simplest facts of astronomy, optics and a lot of other disciplins... I'd say not credible, and that's an euphemism

But even there... we had telescopes capable of watching the moon in good detail for centuries before photoshop was a twinkle in its creator's eye: the shadows cast on the surface by such structures, if not by the towers themselves, would have been very visible...

Scott, the issue is what are the origins of human thoughts? Some people claim to be psychic so thoughts and mental messages have have some "substance" to them that people can sense. When someone has an idea, where does it really come from? I don't think our science/technology can even begin to answer that though I am sure people have tried.

I would not say instead than also an additional integrative and not substitutive term like 'Undiscovered History' is fine. Some important facts have been deliberately hidden from public eye by different interest groups, and some others, as you pointed correctly are not discovered yet.

I would say that human laziness and lack of interest in history is a far greater culprit in the general ignorance of history, and much more damaging than any deliberate acts of hermetic groups.

I feel more like Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Even if girls "admitted" or admitted that they were "fake". I personally think they have preferred in later age an easy lie (in order not to be RIDICULED any more than the difficult truth.

Crop circle formations often appear in canola (oil seed rape) fields. This plant has a consistency like celery. If the stalk is bent more than about 45-degrees, it snaps apart. Yet, in a "genuine" crop circle formation the stalks are often bent flat at 90-degrees. No botanist or other scientist has been able to explain this, nor has it ever been duplicated by a human being.

Thoth was said to be an Atlantean priest that left Atlantis prior to its destruction and moved to Khem (Egypt) where he founded a new civilisation based on the higher knowledge of the Atlantean society. As a priest who had knowledge of the gift of immortality he was said to have created the three pyramids at Giza to instruct initiates in the art of transforming the physical and spiritual body using the Merkabah, which is symbolised by the star tetrahedron we see Thoth holding in his palm in the picture above. According to Flower of Life teachings the Pharoah Akenaten and his wife Nefertitti where instrumental in trying to steer Egypt to unlock the key to mankinds existance found in the Egyptian mystery school network that Thoth himself had founded.
When you look at the variety and depth of the mythology concerning Thoth, it comes as no surprise that he should be credited with authorship of The Book of Thoth and the Emerald Tablets of Thoth. Whether these legends are based on fact of myth has become a disputed subject over the last decade or so. Certainly, Pythagoras, himself a mystery school initiate, is said to have written that Thoth had taken him by the hand, led him under the great pyramid and taught him about the sacred nature of geometry and the true nature of reality. Certainly there are many people who claim to have had direct communication with Thoth as a god form, which leads us to the starting possibility that Thoth is more of an interdimensional being than a myth.

I am sure that you know that in Hellenistic Egypt, have accepted Thoth as equivalent deity as Hermes. Thoth-Hermes was worshiped as one in the Temple of Thoth in Khemnu (*Hermopolis)

There is no precise historical record, as such, of this great Egyptian, but tradition states that he flourished about 2670 B.C.
"Hermes Trismegistus" is the Greek equivalent for the Egyptian, "Thoth" and means "The Thrice Great," "The Master of Masters."
Albert G. Mackey's monumental Encyclopedia of Freemasons states that Hermes or Thoth was a celebrated Egyptian priest, legislator and philosopher. He is said to have written thirty-six books on theology and philosophy and six books on medicine. All have been lost.
Mackey further states that Eusebius claimed that Hermes introduced the art of writing into Egypt.
It is interesting to conjecture that Hermes, after his death, was deified, and became known as the god of wisdom. Clemens Alexandrinus speaks of him as the "scribe of the gods," "the secretary of Osiris," "the greatest god of them all," and "the Lord of divine words".
Works are extant in papyri and on temple walls, treating of Hermes' studies of geography, astronomy, ritual, myths and medicine. The forty-two books attributed to him were subdivided into six divisions. The first consisted of ten books and dealt with laws, deities and the education of priests. The second, also consisting of ten books, treated of sacrifices, offerings, prayers, hymns, and festive processions. The third group, also ten in number, was
called hieroglyphics and was a repertory of cosmographical, geographical information. The fourth division, of four books, was devoted to astronomy and astrology. The fifth group, of two books, contained a collection of songs in honor of the gods and a description of royal life and its duties. The sixth, and last group, contained six books known collectively as the pastophorous. These dealt with medical subjects.
These writings, known as Hermetic philosophy, were imparted, tradition says, to the great Greek philosophers Pythagoras, Plato, Aristotle and Herodotus, and served, in part, as a basis for their approach to God and the affairs of men.
During the early Roman period, one of the great writings attributed to Hermes, De Potestate et Sapienta Divina (On Divine Power and Knowledge), was especially studied in the schools of higher learning. This treatise, consisting of fifteen chapters, treated subjects as the nature of God, the origin of the world, the creation and fall of man, and the Divine Illumination which is the sole means of his (man's) deliverance. The life work of Hermes seems to have been in the direction of planting the seed of truth rather than establishing a school of philosophy which would dominate the world's thought. Nevertheless, many of the great Mysteries found their source in these earliest Hermetic teachings. The Mysteries of Osiris and Isis, in Egypt; Cybele and Dionysus in Asia Minor, and the Eleusinian Mysteries of Demeter in Greece were but the outgrowth and development of Hermes'
philosophy. Some of our Masonic degrees find their spiritual ancestor in Eleusis and Egypt.
Joseph Fort Newton, in The Builders says: "Masons, tiring of the endless quarrels of sects, turned for relief to the ancient Mysteries as handed down in their tradition - the old, high, heroic faith in God and in the soul of man as the one unconquerable thing on earth. If, as Aristotle said, it be the mission of tragedy to cleanse and exalt us, leaving us subdued with a sense of pity and hope and fortified against ill fortune - it is permitted us to add
that in simplicity, depth and power; in its grasp of the stupidity of evil and the splendor of virtue, its revelation of that in our humanity which leads it to defy death, giving up everything, even life itself, rather than defame, defile or betray its moral integrity; and in its prophecy of victory of light over shadow - there is not a drama known among men like the Third Degree of Masonry."
What is the basic philosophy that Hermes left to us as a legacy? Largely, they may be considered as consisting of seven principles:
MENTALISM: This principle states that "ALL is Mind." It explains that God is the Substantial Reality which underlies all the outward manifestations and appearances of the material universe and all that is apparent to our senses. The ALL is spirit which in itself is unknowable, and undefinable, but which may be considered and
thought of as a Universal, Infinite, Living Mind. It also explains that all the phenomenal world or universe is simply a Mental Creation of the ALL, subject to the laws of created things and that the universe in its parts or units bas its existence in the Mind of the ALL.
CORRESPONDENCE: There is always a correspondence or analogy between the laws of phenomena and the various planes of Being and Life. The old Hermetic axiom stated: "As above, so below; as below, so above." The ancient Hermetists considered this principle as one of the most important mental instruments by which man was able to pryaside the obstacles which hid truth from view. Just as a knowledge of the principles of geometry enables man to measure distant suns and their movements, a knowledge of correspondence enables man to reason intelligently from the known to the unknown.
VIBRATION: All things are in constant motion. The difference between different manifestations of matter, energy, mind and even spirit result largely from varying rates of vibration. From the ALL, which is pure spirit, EVERYTHING is in vibration - the higher the vibration, the higher its position in the scale. A proper
understanding of this principle was said to enable Hermetic students to control their own mental vibrations as well as those of others.
POLARITY: Everything is dual. In everything about us there are two poles, or opposite aspects, which are, in fact, only the two extremes of the same thing, with many varying degrees between them. For example, heat and cold, although opposites, are really the same thing, the difference consisting merely of degrees of the same thing. There is no such thing as absolute heat or absolute cold. The same principle manifests itself in the case of light and darkness, which, again, are the same thing, the difference being between varying degrees between the two poles of the phenomena.
RHYTHM: This principle holds that in everything there is manifested a measured motion, to and fro, a flow and an in-flow, a swing backward and a swing forward. There is always an action and a reaction, an advance and a retreat. This is the rhythm of the universe, suns, worlds, men, mind, energy and matter.
CAUSE AND EFFECT: This principle embodies the teaching that there is a cause for every effect and an effect for every cause. It explains that everything happens according to law-that nothing "merely happens." There is no such thing as chance. While there may be varying levels of cause and effect, nothing escapes this law. The Hermetic philosopher believes that by self-mastery and by rising mentally to a higher plane he becomes a "cause" rather than an "effect." The masses of people are carried along, obedient to their environment. The wills and desires of others stronger than themselves, heredity, suggestion, and other outward causes move them about like pawns on a chessboard of everyday living. But the Hermetic master, rising to the plane above, dominates his mood, character, qualities and powers, as well as the environment that surrounds him, and becomes a "mover" instead of a pawn. He helps to play the game of life, instead of being played and moved about by other wills and surroundings.
GENDER: There is gender manifested in everything. On the physical plane, the principle manifests itself as sex. No creation is possible without this law. This principle is constantly working in the direction of generation, regeneration and creation. We find, for example, a distinct manifestation of gender among the corpuscles, ions or electrons that constitute the basis of matter and which, by forming certain combinations, create the atom. The formation of the atom is really due to the clustering of negative ions or electrons around a positive one. The positive electrons exert their influence upon the negative, causing the latter to assume new combinations and thus "create" or "generate" the atom. Thus, the principles, or philosophies, expressed by Hermes is of a deeply esoteric and mystical nature. Any study of this sage requires careful analysis to separate the true from the traditional. Where one begins and the other leaves off, it is difficult to tell, but the Light coming to us from across the centuries is nevertheless fundamental and a part of our treasured spiritual and cultural heritage. Let us "ponder well" the philosophy of Hermes Trismegistus.

The Guyana Quartet contains another important archetypal permutation that was of particular interest to Jung—that of the adversarial twins, Merlin and Parsifal. In his essay Merlin and Parsifal: Adversarial Twins, Harris summarizes his interpretation of Jung’s work on the subject with the following:

Late Dr. Francis Crick, in his book Life Itself: Its Origins and Nature (1981), Crick -- a Nobel prize-winner and the co-founder of the shape of the DNA molecule -- claimed an advanced civilization transported the seeds of life to Earth in a spacecraft.

Collaborative research from a gathering of exo-scientists postulate that there are genes from over 20 extraterrestrials civilizations in Human DNA. Dr. Hoyle opted for a kind of pantheistic intelligence that created life spores in other parts of the Universe, with these spores ultimately drifting to Earth to begin life as we know it. Because of the tremendous (and impressive) complexity of life - and the obvious design behind it - other scientists who challenge "official science" supported by political elites, are beginning to endorse this conclusion as well. Leslie Orgel, one of the well-researched heavyweights in origin-of-life experiments, is also on record as advocating this scientific position (1982, pp. 149-152).
Like the issue of Global Warming, and on-going Ozone Layer depletion, non-dogmatic scientists have blamed political elites for ignoring clear evidence of the Non-Earth origins of human beings.
Dr. Francis Crick was one of the two scientists who discovered the structure of DNA during the 1950s. Certainly an important discovery in the history of science, this came after lengthy research and a great pooling of information and expertise. Crick won the Nobel Prize for his work. I firmly believe in the former existence of Atlantis and other high civilizations before our time. I also believe that it only would be ignorant to assume we're the only ones in Space. Scott, just remember Wikileaks, I think the human trait known as "CREDIBILITY" is becoming very hard to find amongst politicians and other important individuals. How many experts are proven wrong every single day? They return the very next day to make new decisions/predictions as if they have a good track record, regarding their so called "credibility". War in Afghanistan is just one simple example.

this is a clip from NSA documents related to Larry Gersten lawsuit
Saturday, April 23, 2011 NSA releases document on extraterrestrial radio messages.
According to this document, 29 messages from outer-space were intercepted and subsequently published in a National Security Agency technical journal. This document is a "Key" created in order to interpret the messages. So we don't really know what the messages actually said, or if they were even successfully unlocked, but this document appears to prove that the NSA has in fact intercepted at least 29 radio messages of extra-terrestrial origin. When these messages may have been picked up, how they were heard, is anyone's guess at this point. But this seems to prove the we have indeed heard from aliens and the NSA knows it.

I was going to write something similar but you already did the job. The thing that baffles me is why so many people who should know better treat these crackpot theories with kid gloves. They rightly should be ridiculed. The thing that most irritates me is people going on about "energy", "crystal vibrations", and the like, when they clearly haven't the slightest idea what they are talking about.
I sometimes wonder if the problem is with the mindset (for want of a better word) of many of the people who talk about this kind of thing. They often seem to come from an arts background where there is no right and wrong, only opinion, hence comments like "I believe in Atlantis". But the fact, is, Atlantis either existed, or it didn't. Belief doesn't come into it. Believing something doesn't make it true. There needs to be concrete evidence which is more than someone simply saying "one time I saw something but haven't been able to find it again".
I also find that when anyone promotes a newspaper column, magazine article or TV show by posing a question or series of questions ("Is it a computer for calculating the end of the world?", etc), the answer is invariably "no".

Simon, you might like to clarify what you are trying to refute when you throw out and refer to 'energy' as Einstein's equation E=MCsquared proved everything is energy, this is commonly accepted by the current collective Newtonian party/mindset, but as others unravel the mysteries of the Universe, how long before Einstein is made to look like he believed in a 'flat Earth'? As the great man said the only field of study worth studying is the field...
Our collective reality is created by the collective mindset of the collective party of Ego's. If information is suppressed/not easily attainable, and fear is created, the collective mindset/egoism, can be easily be controlled. e.g. the majority of society choose to believe it is beyond them to end poverty, war and hunger, the collective mindset creates this reality, these people are considered 'common', so are considered sane, but this does not mean they are 'normal'. Those that believe in solving these issues collectively are marginalised in society are not common and so considered insane. So if a person who say 'believes' in 'energy' or 'crystals' or 'Atlantis' believes it is also our Purpose to live in harmony and end poverty, war and hunger, are they to be considered insane if their collective belief becomes majority and is able to end these issues? It is not the lack of technology, overpopulation or pollution that creates these issues it is the collective acceptance of individuals that we are powerless to end it all. We could create abundance right now if we chose to. Rather than wasting our 'energy' on destroying with the production of weapons, and creating fear, we could chose to put our collective 'energy' into creating harmony, but the collective group of individuals we have given our power to and asked to represent us, have become insane.
Your beliefs in reality are created by what you receive from your 5 senses as they interpret the external world and the resulting feeling, we all possess a 6th sense but many choose to ignore/deny the feeling this creates.
Seeing reinforces believing, but just because it hasn't been seen by an individual, is not proof it does not exist.

I was going to write something similar but you already did the job. The thing that baffles me is why so many people who should know better treat these crackpot theories with kid gloves. They rightly should be ridiculed. The thing that most irritates me is people going on about "energy", "crystal vibrations", and the like, when they clearly haven't the slightest idea what they are talking about.
I sometimes wonder if the problem is with the mindset (for want of a better word) of many of the people who talk about this kind of thing. They often seem to come from an arts background where there is no right and wrong, only opinion, hence comments like "I believe in Atlantis". But the fact, is, Atlantis either existed, or it didn't. Belief doesn't come into it. Believing something doesn't make it true. There needs to be concrete evidence which is more than someone simply saying "one time I saw something but haven't been able to find it again".
I also find that when anyone promotes a newspaper column, magazine article or TV show by posing a question or series of questions ("Is it a computer for calculating the end of the world?", etc), the answer is invariably "no".
"The thing that baffles Me is why" people like you bother to comment. It's thanks to the people like Heinrich Schliemann, Howard Carter, George Herbert... and many others who "believed" that make this world a more exciting place to live in. If next time you get an urge to ridicule someone, all you need to do is to find a mirror.
